two upgrade questions about a united-booked, swiss-operated itin
Departing on a United-booked, entirely Swiss-operated itinerary on Friday (gotta earn those PQPs). Two questions:
1) I have an intra-Europe flight to Zurich before connecting to my int’l leg home. The int’l leg booked into P, but the intra-Europe flight was P0 when I booked (and still is) so got shoved into economy. I paid Swiss for upgrades/seat reservations for that leg, but those threw the United reservation out of sync and I basically can’t keep the upgrades on Swiss while keeping United happy. Is there anything I can do to resolve this short of asking Swiss for a refund and trying to upgrade through United (and probably getting forced into re-faring the whole return journey in Z)? It’s only a 90-minute flight, but it’s sort of the principle of the thing now especially given that Swiss has some of my money.
2) The return international leg is F6 A6 on a four-cabin A330 and I’d like to upgrade. but, I’m worried that if I upgrade with Swiss via their site, I’ll run into the same problem as above. does anyone know if I can upgrade to four-cabin first through United? I worry that since they don’t market it anymore, if I ask to refare in A, I will end up in premium economy. Should I just hope that seats are still for sale day of departure, as I know swiss sells them at the counter?
Know these are first world problems but its a special trip so trying to do anything i can. thank you to the collective wisdom!
edit: the intra-Europe flight is on a LX flight number; the int'l leg is on a UA code share
