It's worth noticing that there's no guarantee that your bid will be accepted. So, if you manage to purchase or acquire 44,000 points, in some way, it could very well that your bid will be declined and you've acquired these points in vain. But if your cash bid is declined, you won't pay anything at all. Therefore, if you currently have no points at all, making a cash bid is far safer than trying to acquire points and making a bid in points.
