I'm happy for you that things worked out in the end and that you have requalified for Diamond. I would like to stay at that hotel some time in the near future as it just came thru a renovation.
The moral of the story is, I guess, that one should order a Diet Coke at the lounge and charge it to your bill!

One last followup: I called Hyatt CS to ask whether there are certain jurisdictions where guests will not accumulate GP points for alcoholic beverages. The agent said no - she said it is up to the hotel. So either Colorado/Denver is unique, or the hotel made a mistake and Hyatt CS didn't want to correct it until the hotel got back to them. Shows the importance of maintaining good relations with specific properties - it's probably more important with Hyatt than with other, bigger chains.
