An alternate option might be bus 62 to Newark Penn to catch the NJ transit, saving the airport surcharge for Airtrain, vice versa. Or, if you have a lot of time on hand the combination of 62 bus and PATH will get you to/from Manhattan for $4.35
I mean... since the client I visit most frequently in NYC is directly connected to the WTC Oculus I've been doing NJT->PATH at Newark Penn anyway... Might be worth figuring out how much longer the 62 Bus would actually be (if it would be) for the terminal->Newark Penn journey than AirTrain+TrainTrain...
An 18 hour day (self inflicted, but at least I saw my own bed) with only a 26 hour gap between my my 22 hour day on Saturday due to Newark's incompetence whichever option gives me least amount of time that bubble is looking more and more attractive.
