When I flew to ORD a few weeks ago, the lead was doing the rounds and got to me and I probably held him up a little too long as the flight was close to departing, we'd had our welcome drinks and he said "I'd better get a move on as I need to get round everyone in Club". My guess is he probably ran out of time doing that and it can't be common that they greet every single Gold or higher.
We forget (or don't care?) how many other Gold's or higher are on flights to destinations such as JFK, ORD and other more business-focussed destinations. We think we're the only important flyer! I'd assume he didn't greet everyone.
Also, I didn't get my choice of desert on that flight. And on the flight back they ran out of champagne and sparkling water claiming there was only 3 bottles loaded.
