Indeed, if you are resident in the US the Amex transfer option to ANA can be quite attractive. The complexity of booking ANA awards means that for people living in the US aiming to build the miles with Air Canada might be better.
JAL does not have quite that attractive transfer options, and certainly not in Japan. The only one I can think of is Marriott, but I'd rather keep my Bonvoy points there and use them for hotels.
