ainternationalView Post -- your 500 nights in that kind of room in the past decade is just amazing to me!
After I finished my booking of the flights, etc, I only realize that I am arriving at the start of the golden week...Traveling with my adult children so have to book 2 rooms. As our flight arrives late afternoon, what's my options for dinner that night, assuming my flights won't be delayed?
Also, any other restaurant you would recommend to book/reserve during our stays that we are likely to be able to grab?
My daughter has a few places in mind and were just told by the GH concierge that they were not available on dates we were there. And my daughter was worried that we would have no "good" food to get given it is golden week, and she doesn't want "7/11 like food", which I would be totally fine if that's the last resort...
Thanks again for all the pointers!
There are a lot of restaurants in the area. What are you looking for?
One of my favorite Japanese meals is tonkatsu (fried pork), and outside of a few places in Waikiki, I've never seen it prepared properly in the US. Imakatsu and Butagami are both very good, and walking distance from the GH. I've never made a reservation to go to either (and always gotten in), but then again I have always gone for lunch (not dinner) and I've never been during golden week.
I don't know how much you like eel, but I think it's worth going to Nodaiwa at least once. It's also walking distance from GH (a mile or so .. 20-25 min) and they serve a variety of eel dishes. I only went once and I enjoyed it. Pro Tip: Watch your head when you go to the bathroom if you are tall.
If you get in after most restaurants are closed, izakayas are open late, and there's also an all night noodle place pretty close to the hotel.
Basically, all the food is delicious and you should try as much of it as you can while you are there.
