Hi Folks -
I am a Titanimum Member and just spent 5 nights at this property.
Review as follows:
Location: Decent locaion, not great. For those who know Melbourne, it is within 15 minutes of walking distance to "where it is at" - immediate neck of the woods is okay, just about. No issues, but be mindful there is a Gentleman's Club across the street. About 40 minutes from the airport.
Parking: Property offers valet at $75 per night, perhaps cheaper options at the Soutern Cross Station, but given the tendency to rain often, we just parked at the property. Takes about 20 minutes to bring the car.
Check-in: We had used a mix of Certificates from AX (had 2) and points - standard room for 5 nights was our orginial booking, and as mentioned above upgraded by paying $300 per night in addition to 2 35K Certificates + 125K points.
Room: Room is okay, perhaps the best part was the view as we were on L78 facing Port Phillip Bay. There is a long work table, almost like a conference table, which is nice given it can accomodate both people being on computers doing work, etc. Amenities are okay, nothing special and the toilet is seperate from the shower area, which can be a mixed bag, in our case it worked well.
Lounge: Mrs is a Veg, so the host, I think his name was Max was nice enough to acknowledge that there was not much fare for vegetarians, but frankly there was not much fare for anybody. We did end up getting pan cakes, and custom egg orders like sunny side, omletter etc. for brekkie but nothing to boast of. Evening drink service is limited, and there is NO scotch on the menu, even though I thought I saw one on a different night. Service is pretty standard for the Ritz, and the hosts are mostly just getting used to the property as well. They took care of my 6 year old, and made her feel special, so I suppose it was good!
On one of the nights, our room got flooded as the drain was choked, nothing but a note in the room, and some lousy chocalates and fruits.
TBH - I would say the property is more hype, Sheraton on the park in Sydney has a much better breakfast buffet !!
DM if you need any other information!
