You're right about that. The entire hotel is dated. Built around 20-25 years ago now. They could use a major refresh but I’m guessing it’ll be another decade.
Regarding drinks at the Grand Club (above posts), since I’ve been there hundreds of times, I’ve formed some opinions as well as gotten to know several generations of staff (many gone now). I believe they are encouraged to offer drinks proactively when they have time / aren’t busy and when the guest isn’t busy (on the phone, etc). Despite that and despite knowing the staff well, there were also plenty of times I wasn’t proactively asked what I wanted to drink at breakfast or during cocktail hour. Pre Covid they were most consistent in asking. Post Covid, service has gone downhill (everywhere IMO). Don’t let it bother you too much and know they aren’t singling any of you out. I was a top customer for a decade and saw the same thing play out for me so it’s the norm.
