I am a little confuse, in that I thought if a person refused the possibility of traveling and booked travel that caused the delay on your own, solely to remain the cabin of choice that UK/EU261 didn't apply?

Please help this neophyte to understand.

Thanks
The only potential issue is that the passenger didn't get BA to handle the rebooking -Unless BA would have rebooked on the AA flight 20 minutes after the BA flight was scheduled for, then the passenger would have been delayed by more than 2 hours and so delay compensation would be due anyway.

Assuming it is an eligible reason for compensation, the OP should get the money
