UA1128 had a late arriving aircraft and then I, believe, late arriving crew that had its aircraft sitting at the gate. Gate agent for ua2010 showed up and made an announcement that she wasn't there to work the SRQ flight but would do it anyway. Flight gets boarded and sits around at the gate; after a lengthy hook-up to the tug the operator seemed to wait around for wing walkers who, when found, were in no rush. No one else moving in the alleyway beyond the RF / B intersection, so not a congestion issue. Meanwhile, multiple gates with aircraft sitting at them that weren't scheduled to depart until the evening.

UA2010s aircraft makes its way to the gate maybe 45 minutes later at best -- had been on the ground from EDI for 24 hours at that point. Boarding to departure was something like 75 minutes; blamed on paperwork.

All-in not the worst delay, but just seemed emblematic of UA at a micro and macro level not trying all that hard to put the train back on the tracks after a difficult weather day.
Perhaps emblematic of the multichotomy that is EWR.
