There is an area with a lot of nightclubs that you might want to avoid at night if it's not your scene, but that's just because it's loud and obnoxious, and you will be hassled to go into nightclubs. But it's absolutely not dangerous. Tokyo is probably the safest city I've ever been to.

While that area is close to the hotel, it is a bit of a walk (maybe 5 min) so it's not like you will have to walk through it to get to/from your hotel.

The restaurants in the GH are overpriced (I don't recommend them) but there are many, many, many good restaurants within walking distance, ranging from very cheap (but still good) to high-end fine dining. The concierge can help you (email before you arrive if you are worried). If you want high-end Western food, l'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is in the mall attached to the hotel and is excellent and worth the money IMO. If you want Japanese food there are too many options to list but if you narrow it down a bit people can give recommendations.

Ginza is fine. There is some good food there but the whole area is kind of boring.
I echo that Roppongi is a safe area and you shouldn't be concerned. We have stayed there for years from the time my kids were younger until older. They could venture out on there own without any problem or concern on our part. We have always found lots of good restaurants nearby or in the Roppongi Hills complex so typically don't eat in the hotel restaurants. This is more of a gaijin area but there is decent access to all parts of Tokyo via the subway.
