Sheraton Boston is sold out for my conference's timeframe! Nothing available for points, nothing available for cash. And it's a 3.8/5.0 hotel on Marriott's on website!
Sadly, no, though I have been missing Regina Pizza in the North End as well as Flour Bakery. I don't disagree with the take on the hotels proposed above - though, the W isn't that bad. The Liberty is better. However, it's going to depend on your openness to taking public transportation or perhaps walking (you could walk from the W to Hynes perhaps - not from the Liberty). The subway in Boston is easy and frequent, but I know some people are weary of public transportation. The Westin, Marriott Copley, and Sheraton are all connected to Hynes internally through the Copley Place and Prudential Center mall complexes. The Courtyard is across the street from the Westin but isn't connected. You won't get breakfast at the limited service options. You're right - the Sheraton is old - both the Marriott and Westin are well maintained. Both have clubs during the week, and the Westin also has restaurant breakfast as a welcome gift choice. Again, I don't think the W is that bad, but it's not very inspiring and the breakfast credit for the a la carte isn't very generous.
As for the Liberty, it's nice and interesting, but most of the rooms are in an attached tower to the jail. One side of the tower has no views, the other side has some of the best views in Boston of the whole skyline. The rooms seemed a tad old, and I remember not loving the sheets on the bed. Still, though, I don't remember any issues with breakfast, but I haven't stayed since 2021.
