I haven't heard that proviso that it would take a while to work again. Not sure if 6 p.m. was a certain amount of time since the failure or everything "resets" at that time.

Any insights?

If it works like it did in the past, I would wait at least 24 hours from when you first attempted to use it as debit until you try again. That usually worked for me.
