I too am a phobic flyer although since I have become a
Frequent flyer these past 3 years, ‘I've improved radically! Helps to research how planes fly, NWAs' safey record, etc. I fly primarily over water-Trans Pacific. Imagination is your worst enemy-so much of your fear is generated by you Imagining the worst and visualizing what COULD happen. When you begin to imagine, your adrenaline kicks in starting the panic sensation which starts that horrible fear downhill slide. Work on stopping your imagination as soon as it starts. It's sneaky, and wants to keep butting in, but tell it "No!" and think about something else.

BTW, Ambien-a prescription sleep aid is incredible, as others have pointed out. One moment you are awake, and then you are waking up several hours later, alert and happy. Definately helps to make a long flight easier. Jet lag, was killing me on these Trans-Pacific flights. I take 1/2 a pill on my night flight home and 1/2 a pill at home to get me back on track from jet lag. Cuts the my normal jetlag recovery dow
n from 1week to about 2-3 days.
