as restlessinRNO already mentioned, Mercure's location is not favorable, unless you have a car.
Movenpick has a better location close to nightmarket and the nighlife-street and in walking distance to old town. However it just changed to be a Movenpick before Covid started and was then closed during the whole Pandemic. Will try this next time I am in Chiangmai...but it seems to be cheaper and not comparable with other Movenpick properties in Thailand (Bangkok, Jomtien, Hua Hin and Phuket)
