No, you don't need to enter Qatar or go to the arrivals area. Just follow the transfer signs, go through transfer security, and you'll be in the airside departure areas. Either go to your next gate, or find a transfer desk if you want to check the luggage you've hand carried onto the BA flight.
Worse case the gate will weigh your luggage and gate check it.
