I have had the rules applied to me both ways. One agent issued a voucher for the difference in value of a voucher and the travel voucher. This is an e-voucher and is treated by Delta as a different animal than a travel voucher. The gate agent wrote over the issue date of this voucher the expiration date for the original travel voucher. I have asked gate agents what date applies and have gotten the two possible answers, the old date and the new date.

This has also happened regarding combining vouchers. The rules read that travel vouchers may not be combined. However, you can combine e-vouchers. Some agents have allowed combinations of travel vouchers, others have not. Some have allowed combinations of travel vouchers and e-vouchers.

It can be expected that with such complicated booking, and fare rules that there will be confusion among the gate agents. My recomendations be prepared for both. In other words a definite maybe.
