I'm slowly poking away at this trip. I've eliminated:
  • Langkawi - went, enjoyed, no real interest in returning, was mostly enticed by ferry from Penang as I think it is fun to travel locally
  • Koh Samui - went, enjoyed, need to make our way back to Singapore to return home, find flights challenging in and out
  • Phuket - barely in the running, likely out
My current focus is entirely on Malaysia. I know I want to include:
  • Kuala Lumpur - have suite at Grand Hyatt booked
  • Penang or Georgetown - sounds like some hotels with character in Georgetown; stayed at E&O many years ago, a possibility
  • Pangkor Laut? - positive comments in this forum from several years ago, widely varying reviews on Trip Advisor
  • Mangala Resort, 2 hours from KL, near Kuantan - ??
  • Cameron Highlands Resort???? yes/no? widely varying reviews on TripAdvisor
  • Majestic Malacca??? - yes/no to Malacca? yes/no to this particular property? Tripadvisor reviews run the gamut with some recent ones scathing
  • One and Only Desaru - even weaker reviews than above properties
Are there really so few high end properties in Malaysia? What am I overlooking?
