There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking for something that was promised. It's not that difficult to do so with grace and without any awkwardness at all. ("Hey, [name] mentioned there would be some drink coupons for me at check-in - I don't see those - would it be possible for you to double-check on that?")
There are many here on FT who would not hesitate to ask even if it had
not been promised.
