What to do about my Return Ticket

Would like some forum feedback on the right course of action to take in this situation.

I am United Premier Gold Status and booked a RT ticket from EWR-Tel Aviv (TLV) for myself and my wife from May 16th-May 27th. We are on the same itinerary. Recently, I found out that instead of returning directly home from Israel, I would be going to do some solo business travel in Africa from Israel and would be departing to EWR from Johannesburg on June 4th while my wife would take the original flight home from TLV on May 27th.

I tried changing my return flight on my original itinerary but found it was close to $300 cheaper to just book a new one way flight home from Johannesburg to EWR as opposed to directly changing my return ticket so I just did that so now I hold my original RT flight from EWR-TLV and a 1 way flight from JNB to EWR.

Given the situation, what course of action would be best to allow my wife to maximize my benefits while not penalizing me? I was going to take the outbound EWR-TLV without doing anything prior to that but once I land, should I cancel my TLV-EWR leg or just not show up? I don't think I would get any if much at all residual flight credit if I cancel so not worried about eating the cost of the return flight I just don't want to be recharged for a 1 way fare if they think I am Skiplagging.

Also to consider is that my wife is sitting in Economy Plus on the way back and I don't want her to be charged for her seat since the benefit runs through me. I also don't want my wife to run into trouble at the airport if she shows up for her flight and I am not with her just because we are still linked to the same reservation.

Thoughts are appreciated.
