The solution to this is for Marriott to require some form of financial compensation as they do for other elite benefits. Paying a housekeeper an extra hour is much less than getting whacked with a $50 / $100 guest compensation fee. This benefit, for some people like myself, is a large reason why I'll choose a Marriott over a Hyatt or Hilton property in the same area.

/also sad that they're screwing over the housekeeping staff on this too. I try to leave nice tips when the rooms are clean and orderly.
