I have come across very few instances where I have been refused a 4pm checkout but when I do come across such a property, I just show them the T&C on the Marriott website & ask them to give to me in writing that they are refusing the late checkout. They all back off immediately then.
This works because most FD reps and many managers are unaware that there are no consequences from M.I. for late checkout refusal.
