Holiday Inn Hull Marina

Holiday Inn Hull Marina

What is your Priority Club status?

Diamond

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Queen with sofa bed (didn't want sofa bed but no choice). Only possible upgrades are view of marina and free minibar, didn't get either.

How are the rooms?
OK. Initially thought we got some sort of junior suite as the desk area and wardrobe is away from the main part of the room, but it was actually just in a windowless alcove.
Heating and cooling worked well.
Window could be opened.
Lots of sockets.
Weird plastic shower head which is difficult to adjust with the knob due to limescale, but water flow and temperature were fine once it got going.

How is the exec. lounge?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Good - breakfast, yes it's mostly the standard mass-catered stuff, but there were some fresh items including green vegetables which is a bit healthier than usual.
Neutral - advance purchase rate not charged in advance, annoying as I wanted certainty over Amex offer, and it made check in take longer.

Bad - parking is £10/day, so I parked on Kingston Street opposite Al Porto restaurant, free from 1630-1000 daily, 1 minute walk to reception (maybe closer than the hotel's carpark).
As the area around the hotel is under construction for the next few years, accessing the city centre on foot is difficult.
Wifi signal was not that strong in the room and even in the public areas it cut out once.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
£78, may stay again if driving, although I would prefer the Doubletree if not driving.
