Review: Air India 777-200LR Angled Lie-Flat Business Class (SFO-DEL)

INTRODUCTION

Air India is investing into new(er) fleet of planes. This review is for older plane. I don't know how long these will be in operation so it may not be relevant for long

Disclaimer: unfortunately flyertalk didn't allow me to post pictures from the flight since it's a new account which is a bummer since it would really show the state of the flat. Maybe I can add this at a later time

PRE-FLIGHT EXPERIENCE

This was pretty minimal. Crew went around to offer juice and selection of magazines

SEATS

Seats definitely look aged, however, AI tried to soften the blow by adding nice looking and shiny covers. I set in a row of three seats, other two seats were empty. During the flight, it became clear why those seats were empty - they didn't actually work.

My seat went down to angled lie flat, but it didn't come up
Middle seat only went down to middle position and was stuck at that for the whole flight
I didn't even attempt to move the 3rd seat otherwise, I would have no where to sit for landing

ENTERTAINMENT

Remote control was flaky and required me to press on the buttons very sternly to achieve any action

Cannot comment on the quality of the headset as I didn't use it at all

Selection of movies was pretty bad so I didn't watch their movies and just watched what I had downloaded on to my phone prior

AMENITIES

There is one area where AI really shines.
  • Slippers were very comfortable

  • Amenity kit box was hard plastic and had a nice set of amenities

  • Pajama kit came in different sizes and includes pants and long sleeve t-shirt, both were very comfortable

FOOD

We had three meals throughout the flight. All meals were delicious and quite large.

Dessert selection was vast

SLEEP

The seats were angle flat so didn't open up to full flat bad, but it was still pretty decent to get some sleep.

Covers and blankets were pretty comfortable, however, the pillow was way to soft to be useful for sleep. I had used blankets from another seat to supplement the pillow
