The damage they did to status seems relatively minor. I think we're still waiting for the axe to fall on JGC in Autumn 2023

FYI, they also removed the additional drink option from Class J menu and downgraded the green tea while raising the price at the same time. But it is the one they didn’t announce that hurts most. Without getting into the specifics, they seem to value short term financial gains over your loyalty.

JGC change probably isn’t that bad for loyal members. Based on pure speculation, they probably will remove a few of JGC benefits and turn them into a lower tier status benefits. E.g. they can say for 50K status points, you will be eligible for domestic lounge access, for 75K status points you will be eligible for priority baggage and int’l lounge access, and for 100K status points you will be eligible for JGC. That could explain why this nickel-and-dime airline will voluntarily reduce the annual renewal fee for overseas JGC freeloaders. The question is whether they will grandfather existing JGC members with all the status tier benefits below JGC or not.
