I was actually able to login to copa and pick seats myself. Well, the first time I was. The AF website then also showed those seats I picked. After picking though, the system did not let me change the seats - copa showing some random ‘unknown date’ error from that point onwards. I did fly in the seats I picked.
One additional thing to note is that copa and afkl don’t work very well together. On the return flight I had a 20+ hr layover, however copa was not able to short check my luggage as their systems don’t allow doing that on an afkl ticket. Or that’s what they told me anyway.
There's definitely some issues in their integration with Copa. The Copa agents confirmed the booking is in BC even though website says Economy. I get the same 'unknown date's error you mention on their website while picking seats.
The seat selection didn't work out with the first call. It never showed up anywhere. But a second call got that resolved. It now shows in AF app, Copa website (though not always) and also on EF. The seats I picked are BC too, so I'm not worried anymore.
It's really just a 3.5hr flight. So I'm not expecting much in BC anyway. Recliners will be enough for this flight. I got worried mainly because once before AF had managed to issue a ticket on a partner (AM) into Economy even though during sale it was business and only got caught a because I noticed during seat selection. In this case it's just bad IT it seems.
