Yea I agree, if they drop the 1.5 RTR, it seems they would have to revamp some of the earning rates on the AR. Like you said, the connect would be a better travel card compared to the reserve if RTR dropped to 1 cent.
Regardless,I can’t see myself paying $400 annually for 3% mobile wallet/travel (I don’t use portals). That means you would have to spend over $7,500 on the mobile wallet/travel category annually to beat out using a 2% Cashback card. This calculation is assuming you can easily use the $325 travel credit of course.
Hopefully nothing changes though but it seems inevitable.
The $325 "travel" credit is now a travel/dining credit. And the net annual cost of the card for me has been $0 (or less) thanks to generous annual retention bonuses. YMMV.
