I know I don't have to do the Indian background checks now - though I know 3 Indian LPR's now who are waiting for months on their initial/renewals (while their non-Indian spouse got it approved without interview in 2 days).
Many Global Entry renewal applicants, including US citizens, are experiencing months long waits for approvals. As long as you apply for renewal before the original expiration date of your Global Entry membership, you will continue to receive all Global Entry benefits for (currently) up to two years after the original expiration date pending the final approval of the renewal application.
