so 10 min after a pre-recorded PA announcing the 1 hour delay, we boarded!! The engineers had been working on a problem and needed the APU off to do it. We were still delayed 30 mins after "boarding complete" whilst the maintenance paperwork was sorted out, though in club - no refills, no water runs, just diddly squat on a warm aircraft. The onboard staff picked up the mantle from the ground crew me thinks.
The one thing which drives me mad is going from "will depart from C gates" to "boarding " and either bypassing "gate open" or its up for a few minutes. We left the B lounge 1 hour out to walk from B to C to stretch the legs and it had gone from "Will depart from C gates to boarding". I suspect when the lead for the gate staff arrives, and opens up the gate - its usually tight timing wise, and so they just go to boarding to hussle people along. The B lounge was superb as always, and the staff were more engaged than the gate staff. The food has had a makeover too and some really good grub. I don't know if Do & Co do this food as well but some of the best lounge food I've had with BA !!
