FWIW, if escalated, there likely would have been no one past that desk agent to escalate to. You're not going to find much of a management presence at a select service property on a weekend unless they are extremely busy which is partially why situations like this occur.
I've stayed at plenty of limited service properties with a manager on site. Particularly at busy destination locations, which would certainly include Orlando.
