My phrasing is that it's a £35 per person charge, but if you didn't pay that much cash they don't charge you extra to cancel, it's capped at what you previously paid, so in the first case 50 pence.
I just cancelled online a RFS PE LON-JFK for which the cash component was £280. This is the minimum cash amount for an avios redemption on this route (forced on me because I used a Barclays upgrade voucher.) I got the whole £280 back. I did this because I wanted to switch the J as seats had opened up. When I tried to change the existing booking on the phone the agent wanted to charge me a £35 fee.
