Anyone can
purchase a senior-fare ticket in advance, but a passenger who presents one on a train or buys one on a train must be prepared to show acceptable proof of age.
A senior-fare ticket is not valid on Westbound peak trains going toward Manhattan, but is valid on Eastbound peak trains departing Manhattan or Woodside, Forest Hills, or Kew Gardens. The "City Ticket" is not valid on any peak train.
