It's not bad, just the worst part of a great property. It is definitely super casual, especially when you compare it to breakfast options of other comparable Kyoto hotels. It is very casual with pretty limited options. You are limited to ordering 1 entree off the menu but there is a mini buffet of smaller items you can choose from. They also charge Globalists for the Japanese breakfast but I can't remember the price.
The rooftop restaurant is actually very nice but very very very very very very very overpriced for what it is. I booked and ate there with my girlfriend without looking at the price. While the food was fine, the total cost for that meal ended up being almost $1K for two people. That is extremely expensive for Kyoto/Japan.
