How long can American run the MD 80s anyway? It seems that a large number of them were delivered in the 1980s/early 90s. I remember flying in some regional prop jets that were 25 or 30 years old, but do airlines fly the larger jets for that long?
It seems that 95% of the jets I fly on out of DFW are MD 80s. It looks like they may stay around for a while longer.
AA will run their MD80's (without pillows) into the ground. After that they will either replace woith used RJR's or just give up on any routes less then 2,000 miles to competition. Just wait until Southwest orders 100 7E7's and announces they will fly international.
