Firstly, thank you so much for the reply.

Is that true for both a cash refund and an FFC?

If you're on a T fare, look for flights back home with T inventory in Expert Mode.
I have an H class fare, but both flight segments are operated by Lufthansa. When I search for new flights, does that mean I need to find new flights with H (or lower) open, operated by UA/LH/LX/etc? And if H is available on both sectors, should I insist with the phone agent that they sell me an H-class fare? (I don't think that's usuallyhow it works, but maybe different for changes.)
