As Nishimark points out , renting a car would allow for more accessibility. A few of my favourite Yamaguchi places were the Kintai Bridge in Iwakuni , Ruriko-Ji in Yamaguchi city , and the fish market in Shimonoseki from where you can take quick ferry over to Mojiko. There is also Hagi on the Japan Sea coast.
