I usually ring up the airline. CX have a prerecorded flight info line, bigger airlines like Air NZ probably have a push-button system.

As for the title to this thread, my answer would be that pretty much all of Auckland Airport is useless (have you seen the spelling mistakes on those flipboards!) but you all know my feelings on New Zealand's so-called gateway to the world...
