I have been reading all sorts of postings about Phantom award availability on Singapore (SQ) Krisflyer awards. If the Singapore Airlines site says that the award is available for a saver award, for example, SFO-SIN on SQ metal, can I trust it to be true? It seems like they would know whether or not they have availability on their own airline, wouldn't it? I plan to transfer Ultimate Rewards to Krisflyer but don't want to do it if it is not really available?!?
I have never had a situation with SQ where they showed phantom availability. Maybe it happens, but I have only seen/heard about it with partner airlines showing phantom availability. If you are that concerned you can call them and just confirm, but I have always just transferred over to sq when I saw the opening.
