In many decades of travelling at high-end hotels I think the American chain hotels, in America anyway, have the meanest attitude. And Americans not only accept this as normal they find it necessary to tip people on top of that. And if it's a resort there is this thing called a 'resort fee' which means you pay extra, plus another tip, to sit by the pool on a lounger with a towel and a sunshade. My staylist would have only one item - the hope that the management knows the meaning of the word Hospitality.
