Most people who are choosing to fly a lot of Delta are flying a a lot of domestic flights, so the international airline comparison isn’t that relevant. And when they do fly international they may be flying Delta largely for the benefits accrued to US flying (i.e. status earning).
I do about seven domestic round trips for every transatlantic trip so that would be me. My home airport options are Delta, American, Southwest, Allegiant, and Sun Country, so it’s between Delta and American and American’s coach product seems to be trying to compete with Spirit.
