This was on a weeknight, though not sure if that matters much. I agree the big group was definitely the problem. But at risk of sounding entitled, that shouldn't be my problem. If the hotel chooses to accommodate a large group after making a commitment to me on the rooms, they should take steps on their end to honor the commitment. That didn't happen here (the FD staff & manager agreed with that, fwiw - they agreed there was a note in their system to accommodate me, but that it wasn't acted upon, and by the time I checked in there were no rooms near each other).

I did PM the Lurker who responded above, we'll see what they say.
