Still in hotel, they have given us a late checkout so that we don’t have that in between hotel thing where you have to leave your luggage at one of the hotels & have no room to retire to.

Never been to this bit of Rome before, as you would probably expect it’s a real mix of commercial & residential. Quite a lot of building going on around the hotel, usually a sign of an area on the up. Metro is only a block away, 5 minutes if that. Big rowing lake next to metro which I thought would be a good jogging route. Plenty of shops & restaurants nearby.

Hotel is clearly going through some early start up hiccups. Staff are good but you sense a lack of certainty from them. Breakfast was ok, daughter delighted that there are pancakes with lots of confectionery. Usual sort of breakfast food selection.

Bar is good although no draft beer. Breakfast, restaurant area is off the bar. Bar is off the reception area. Reception has lifts adjacent to the reception desks which are glass, giving views through the reception are & across the street through the glass facade + the poorly finished lift shafts (I assume this will be dealt with before the hotel is finished)(still they could get rid of the cloths lying about). No car parking at the hotel although I was told that there should be parking in the basement when the hotel is completed. Executive lounge is on the ground floor away from the bar, currently it is being used as a sort of conference space, it’s not currently open. The lounge looks like a decent space & has toilets nearby. A temporary fitness room/gym is just beyond the executive lounge, a bit sparse, has most of what you need but only one treadmill, one bike (I only run, got lucky with the treadmill).

the hotel has 15 floors but only 7 floors in use (they gave us a room on the 7th floor). The gym will move to the top floor where there will be a restaurant/bar presumably with great views over the city.

hard to really assess the place, need to come back when the place is fully up & running. The reception staff described the current situation as a soft opening which feels about right.
