Basically both are different and both have their pluses and minuses. Overall I think it’s difficult to definitively say one is superior to the other. I have no wish to make AA F like CE, or make CE like AA F.
I think an argument can be made that for less than 3 hour flights, CE shines more due to catering, but over 3 hours AA is better because the meal comes in and seat comfort comes into play more.
