At least the Marriott booking engine allows you to tick a box on the reservation page and see all the rates including taxes and fees to easily compare.
There was a lawsuit settlement in the last few years where Marriott agreed to make this prominently available *and* to clearly disclose at the time of booking what you get for these junk fees.
