Well… maybe. That was why I started the thread, to see if I was out of line thinking the “accepted request” constitutes a promise. I’d argue yes, but reasonable minds can differ.
Hypothetical: If you requested me to drive you to the airport and I accept, would you then expect me to show up and do it? Or would it be ok for me no-show and say “oh yeah, I accepted, but I meant only if I didn’t have anything else going on”
I can see why you would say it constituted a promise based on what you've been told by your ambassador, but I think there may be a disconnect between what the ambassador told you and what the hotel told your ambassador. I think the difference between your comparison (very reasonable) and my interpretation of what might have happened is the presence of a third party.
