I fully support this. My standard requests my TA or I make:

High floor;
Good view;
Quiet room;
Away from elevator.

Obviously this varies as to whether it’s a City Hotel or a Tropical Villa destination. At Cape Fahn we were upgraded to their best one bedroom villa because they had a wedding that night on their tiny island of 22 villas. On arrival, I was preparing to immediately check out based on the nose alone but my preferences saved the day.

I tend to make requests on day of arrival or on approach via email or hotel app such as an Ice Bucket and large bottles of San Pell.
