Merely booking a (now-fully-refundable) flight award with your AAdvantage miles will reset the expiration clock -- even if you subsequently cancel the award and get the miles refunded. And if you pay cash for your JetBlue flight, you can choose to credit it to your AAdvantage account -- which would further extend the expiration date of your AAdvantage miles.
