I’m on the no side, The amount of value people put on breakfast absolutely baffles me, I’ll freely admit I’m not a big breakfast eater but in the vast majority of places you can find equal or better food outside the hotel for about 25% of the price so the value you’re getting is primarily convenience, not quality. The upgrade and lounges are of more value to me but even still, not always worth it. I would suggest doing a quick analysis of what it would cost you to achieve Diamond status, vs what the price differential would be for just booking a suite instead of a base room at your potential destinations. Highly suspect that the status would cost more and the difference would easily cover booking a Prive rate (for breakfast) and all the food / booze you might consume in lounges (again, in most places the quality is pretty low compared to what you would get in a proper restaurant.
I get it, the cachet of being a Glob and welcomed and congratulated with your upgrade and getting that nice bottle of cheap wine is an intangible and will freely admit it’s one of the reasons I chase the status. But if you’re asking if it’s actually worth it from a financial perspective I would say most likely not.
