Guess too late for this now, but as I have opined time and time again, chat is virtually useless for anything that requires a non-flowchart response. Unfortunately I do feel like Amex CS has gone a bit downhill with the little things you mentioned. I had a similar Gold 4x issue last year and was basically told to pound sand even after saying I'd be willing to send a copy of the receipt and the menu to show
its a restaurant. It's a large part why the Chase Sapphire Reserve got back into my wallet, because I don't have to deal with those types of coding issues with Chase.
